It recorded the experience when I went back to my hometown and got along with my grandma. Grandma used to say that her experience can be written into a book. But she never spoke much about her own story. Maybe I can take up this responsibility to write a book for her. However, when I was with her, I felt like a total stranger who broke into her life even though we shared a close blood relationship. It was quite difficult for us to communicate well as her memory got confused and her collection of old pictures were turning blurry. I looked into her aging face and realized that the only thing vividly clear between us was her cooking. Through delicious food, our emotions were connected and the story unfolded slowly.
